Sing If You Can was a new entertainment series in which some of Britain’s most popular celebrities including Tricia Penrose were challenged to perform in extreme and hilarious circumstances. Sing If You Can was a celebrity singing contest like no other. There was only one rule, expect the unexpected – snakes, gunge, electrocutions, performing dogs, bouncy castles, explosions, stunt riders and….eels. It was no surprise that the celebrity contestants spent as much time laughing and screaming as they did singing! It offered viewers a chance to see celebrities well and truly out of their comfort zone In May 2011 Tricia was part of a celebrity team whose members were Chesney Hawkes and Martin Bayfield, as you can see from the picture. After Tricia was spun upside down on a wheel whilst trying to sing “Dizzy” by the Wonderstuff (in between the screams!), the team went on to the next round where they faced the ultimate of challenges by staying on board a giant inflatable revolving record player. They managed to stay on ‘the Money Spinner’ to raise a fantastic £16,333 for The Teenage Cancer Trust. Tricia wanted to be involved with the programme as the Teenage Cancer Trust aims to ensure that every young person with cancer and their family receive the best possible care and professional support. Teenage Cancer Trust units aren’t like ordinary cancer wards. Everything about them has been designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. The purple top and sparkly black leggings which Tricia was wearing were actually made for Tricia specifically for Sing If You Can. Due to the high level of interest in the outfit and the number of enquiries received, Tricia decided to auction this on Ebay in order to raise some more money for the Teenage Cancer Trust – the lucky bidder who won the outfit was thrilled!
